A love letter & some appreciation for HR

Over the last couple years, all of us have been through A LOT.

And there's one group of humans in particular that between navigating the unlimited, complicated dynamics of the pandemic, return to office, and now trying to hire and fill 100 bajillion open positions, has really been through the ringer: HR.

Who supports the roles that support everyone else?

HR people have been through it. From all of the dynamics of the pandemic and working/returning from home, to navigating important conversations and action around social justice, HR folks have had their hands full in recent times.

And it hasn’t gotten any easier — right now, many people in HR are tasked with recruiting employees and filling open jobs in this challenging job market.

HR is generally the hub inside organizations that supports everyone else, but they seldom are provided much if any support in return. And they. generally don’t get a lot of appreciation or kudos for what they’re facing on a day to day basis. Part of the reason is that many people don’t realize the full scope of work and responsibility that falls to HR.

Regardless of your role, I encourage you to take a moment this week to go intentionally acknowledge and appreciate your HR people (especially if you are a C-suite leader).

Go thank them. Appreciate them. Write them a note. Call them or set up a zoom to say thanks. Share some gratitude for your HR folks and acknowledge their work and what they continue to go through.

HR, I see you & I love you!
